With the school year comes football season

And so I present to you (though you doubtless root for another team, like the Detroit Lions — or maybe not) the fight song of my hometown Philadelphia Eagles, as I had translated it a year or so ago while sitting bored at my desk one afternoon:

volat(e), Aquilae, volate
in itiner(e) ad victoriam.
pugnat(e), Aquilae, pugnate.
met(am) attingit(e). unus, duo, tres.
pulsat(e) humile, pulsat(e) alte,
et spectat(e) Aquilas volantes!
volat(e), Aquilae, volate
in itiner(e) ad victoriam!

A-Q-V-I-L-A-E
AQVILAE!
