Diem Natalem!

You can actually buy these Roman numeral candles. You know, if you wanted to make us a cake or something.

Today the CAMPVS turns five. As Eric noted: “What do the kids call that, a lustrum?” And on that note, before we can commence with the suovetaurilia, we really should complete the census.

So please leave a comment! I’d like to know what you’re all interested in and what you’d like to see on the site. What (if anything) do you miss from the past (e.g., the Grad School Cheat Sheet)?

We’ve got some things cooking in the ol’ laboratory, but we’d like your input. So please leave a comment and let us know what you’re thinking.

  1. Happy day! I’m grateful for your posts, and I’m happy to know you’re teaching. You’re making the world a better place.

  2. I leave this comment in lieu of writing my own post.

    Happy birthday to us!

While it is true that my posts have been generally sporadic, banal, and/or trivial, it’s nevertheless enjoyable to have this venue and to have Dennis around to write real posts and keep everything running. It’s also nice to have a new contributor.

    Here’s to five more!

  3. Congratulations on turning five.

I’m partial to the later stuff: bring on the Ammianus Marcellinus, the Augustine, the Sidonius Apollinaris, the Vegetius and the Rutilius Namatianus!

  4. Congratulations! May there be many such anniversaries!

I like your discussions of classical scholarship, in general, and Housman, in particular. Thanks!
